The town of Grantsville is the county seat of Calhoun County. The town was established along the Little Kanawha River in 1865 and named for Ulysses S. Grant. The population for Grantsville is 343 people (as of 2021 Census).
Grantsville has one volunteer fire department; elections are held every two years on the second Monday in April; officials take office within 10 days of election. Overall, Calhoun County has a population of 6,229 (as of the 2020 Census).
