Meeting Minutes
The Board of Directors of the Little Kanawha Area Development Corporation (LKADC) held its regular meeting on Monday, December 11th, 2006 at 7 p.m. in Elizabeth WV. A quorum of members was represented. Members present: Dan McDonald, Bryan Sims, Alan Rollins, Wilbert Kerby. Member proxies: Dan Metz, Donnie Pitts, Larry McCallister, Ken Stempowski. Diane Ludwig, staff, was present.
Members reviewed minutes from the October 2006 meeting. Motion to accept, Wilbert Kerby, 2nd, Bryan Sims. Members reviewed current financials. Motion to approve financials & pay current bills, Bryan Sims, 2nd, Alan Rollins. Both motions approved.
Dan McDonald and Diane Ludwig presented a proposed two-year contract for the board’s approval, as directed at the October meeting. Motion to approve contract, Alan Rollins; 2nd Wilbert Kerby. Motion approved.
Current projects, grant applications and business activities in both counties were reviewed and discussed. The following businesses were visited in the last few months: Mustang Survival, RPR Industries, Country Cabinets, LK Gas Measurement, River Pipeline, Grantsville Pro Hardware, Aging with Grace, Main Street Café, Butler’s Woodworking, Chloe Auto & Hardware, Country Store, Reed-Sturm Insurance, Classic Creations and Little Kanawha Bus.
The four old delinquent loans from the old Calhoun Development Corporation Microloan fund are being pursued. The LKADC’s lawyer is negotiating with the lawyer for one of the delinquent loan clients, and another loan client is due to begin making payments on their loan in mid-January 2007.
A CPA firm has been found who is familiar with the type of audit demanded of all non-profits receiving funds from the State. They are due to come to the Grantsville office on January 19th, 2007.
Complaints have come in from a few local businessmen regarding the Industrial Park property. There is still no meeting scheduled by that board to discuss the LKADC’s offer to assume the Park’s debt and take over the property.
Meeting adjourned. The next LKADC meeting will take place on April 16th at the Calhoun County Senior Center in Grantsville, at 7:00 p.m.
