Dan McDonald, President, called the meeting to order. Members present (or represented by proxy): Keith Wilson (proxy), Dan McDonald, Donnie Pitts, Alvin Engelke, David Barr, Bryan Sims, Lewis Full, Lention Offutt, Larry McCallister, Dick Ullum, Ken Stempowski. Staff present: Diane Ludwig.
Minutes from the August meeting were approved as mailed. Motion, Larry McCallister; 2nd, Bryan Sims. Motion approved.
Financials from August were reviewed, and bills approved as submitted. Motion, Dick Ullum; 2nd, Larry McCallister. Motion approved.
The 2003 ARC Flex-e-grant application was submitted today; it is a plan to market small business start-up information in the two counties, and to obtain additional one-on-one business start-up counseling for folks who want to start a business. The Development Office allowed the application to be mailed with a resolution from the board to follow under separate cover, since the deadline for mailing was prior to the start of the meeting. Motion to approve Flex-e-grant resolution by LKADC board. Motion, Lention Offutt; 2nd, Alvin Engelke. Motion approved.
The Little Kanawha Artisans website is up and running. Four craftsmen’s wares have been photographed so far, and individual WebPages are being built for each person.
The LKADC’s application for up to $100,000.00 in Microloan funds was submitted on time. No word as yet on approval or disapproval.
Diane submitted the first stage paperwork for Calhoun County on the Hazard Mitigation planning. This consisted of a work plan, and an agreement between Grantsville’s Mayor and Calhoun County Commission to do a joint plan. Paperwork was submitted on time.
Diane will be attending Local Government Leadership Academy next weekend, September 21-22. Tuition and lodging are paid through a grant from the state Development Office.
Diane will attend Community Development Institute the week of September 30th. This will take care of the 30 hours of Continuing Education credits required by the Development Office each year, in order for the LKADC to continue to receive our LED grant. She received a scholarship to pay her tuition. LKADC will pay lodging & meals.
The Wirt LKADC office is now up and fully functioning. It is located in the Courthouse, next to the Assessor’s office.
Next meeting of the LKADC will be October 21st (postponed to November 18,) 2002 in Elizabeth.
